Superior Products will be releasing a new Big Bore Cylinder for the HE23HP. This cylinder will also fit the G23RC. It will be made stronger and thicker than the current cylinders on the market to facilitate the use of aftermarket head kits. It will have improved heat dissapation because of added material in key spots. The cylinder wall will also be thicker to make it stronger, resulting in the cylinder staying round beter under severe usage like high compression. Ths cylinder will be designed to work with the new HP Superior Pistons, both with and with out the Race Coating. These pistons have a "ground profile" on the skirt giving the piston the proper shape making then less likely to seize.

Uhh...there's already a Performance Power Sports in the Go-Ped industry.

Cylinder sounds nice...maybe I'll buy one. Release date?

Excellent.

does this mean they will be more reliable the a bb but still give the same performance?

I have talked to the designers at PSI/Superior and asked them about the new Big Bore Cylinder. They are aware of some of the problems that have been experienced with the kit currently on the market. It was a small bore cylinder simply bored out 2mm to 34mm. The material is now too thin and the cylinder is flexible and runs a little warn under extreme conditions. The Superior cylinder will be beffier with more material to dissapate heat and keep the cylinder round and strong enough to add a head kit with changeable domes.

It's tough but you can put a head kit on a zenoah OEM BB RC.

But theres a thing called reliability that Ada has to deal with.

It is not tough to put a Big Bore w/head kit. on an RC. We have done it several times more almost a year ago. We had some of the first Big Bore Kits in the USA and did it the day we receieved them. The problem is, we became aware immediately because of the lack of material in the cylinder that there is a reliability problem, like almost immediate seizure, or running down on power due to a distorted bore making the piston tight even before it expanded due to excessive heat. The power was down so much that the engine could not get hot enough to seize. It is wishful thinking that this will work. That is why we had Superior re- design a Big Bore cyliinder which will release in about 8 weeks if all goes as planned.

I was just wondering. If all thing are equal, is the off the shelf big bore kit (no modifications or head added) just as reliable as say the standard cylider setup. Or is the bbk prone to seizing?

So.. You are saying that the BBK is more prone to seizing than standard. (all thing being equal)

I agree with Slim on that plus, they do make more power and that all results in more wear & tear and heat.

so would you be alot better off getting a coolhead and xport to keep the temp down

No, Just make sure you run a Orc style flywheel, don't beat the motor up, run good oil and run slightly rich carb settings. If you can't do some of those then get a Cool head and X port. Lengthening the "header" is really what cools the temps down.

Or better yet, wait for the Superior Big bores :D
