i have heard all this stuff about pocketbikes being street leagl ive heard all kinds of response like yes it is leagal at least speeds of 30mph and at least 50cc, and i ve heard no
i even looked on the honda dot com website and looked at a nsr50r which is almost as big as a streetbike and made from 10x sturdy steel frame with a REAL japanese made enigine which are like the best makers of cars truccks dirtbikes atvs streetbikes etc... versus pocketbieks and are 50 cc and they are even telling me it is not street legal.... so how much more a small plastic body weed wacker engine pb be street legal??

in the US, the NSR50 is a "Gray market" vehicle. There's A TON of things you have to do, to register it for street use.
First off in many communities, NO they are not street legal.
Reasons:
1: No VIN number. Without a vin, not able to be tracked and registered.
2: Motor CC size. Under 50cc is considered UNREGULATED, and not applicable for "motorcycle, Scooter" registration. Usually falls under the catagory of motor driven cycle, under 50cc.
3: No regulation of license in application to size and power.
4: Lack of visibily and size and spacing of lighting and signaling equipment.
Those are just 4 main reasons I can recall. If you go to the Department of Motor Vehicles in the area that you live, they will have a list of items a vehicle must conform to for street legal use.
Besides, would you REALLY want to pay registration fee's or even ride these things on an "open road" in the first place?
If your worried about "getting busted" by the police, that is all up to you. If your riding like a jack ***, zip'ing in and out of things, riding on the sidewalks, or riding recklessly, yeah your gonna get in trouble.
I've never even been aproached by an officer, other then for him to say "Be safe", or "Hey where can I get one of those for my kid?".

It all depends on the cops mood. I ride my x7 like a moped I live in a relatively big city and have never been harrassed by police. But my friends have been pulled over on my bike and told that they need a helmet and glasses min. If you are under 18 then the laws are different. Just remember a cop can do what a cop wants to do. ( and we think we are free....lol). But in general pocket bikes are not street legal because of the small size.

Remember a cops job is to enforce the laws. Themselves they are entitled to their "interpretation" of the law as well. ANY Motor driven cycle (mini bike, pocket bike, etc...) You are basically required to wear a helmet and goggles.

Not in indiana, Indiana law says that helmets are not required if you are 18+. and a motorized bicycle must be under 50cc and travel no more than 25mph. Thats is right from the law books. The reason they complain is all the teens and pre teens out acting like morons on these things and its easier to ban them than regulate.

lol, i cant stand going 25mph on a pocket bike. I go as fast as i can go, usually around 55mph on my pb. But on my chopper, i usually do 25mph or 30mph. But, after i got my pb, i stopped using da chopper. But your right, some kidd's these days really dont know how to drive on the streets. Kidd's like that shouldnt be allowed to drive anything with motors. My suggestion is that they should make a special liscence for kid's that want to drive on the streets. They should make you go through a course , and if you fail you cant drive on the streets, but if you pass, you get a pocket bike liscence to drive on da streets with a helmet and lights , so peeps can see you. :D
