starting problem

i have a pull start on my bike and i just installed a new carb and it wont start and when i get it to start it idles very high and shuts off i checked the idle and its fine im not sure wuts wrong with it i am getting to the piont i might take it to a shop. anybody know what it is :confused:

how is your throttle cable set up? maybe that it, i mean that the throttle may be pulling it?? :confused:

never heard of this problem before. how is the spark plug? maybe the piston is all gummed up with oil? :confused:

if is all gummed up with oil how do you fix that becuase i pulled the spark plug out yesterday and it looked like there was a lot oil in there

umm, im not sure, you probably have to break down the engine. or maybe suck it out with a shop vac. or something.
im not sure if this is safe, but try some degreaser, it should break down the oil a bit, i woulndt really treust it tho.

if you have an air compressor, get a small head (the part the air blows out of) and try to blow some of it out. if that doesnt work, pull the engine head off, but you probably have to take the motor out ot do that.

i would frist try to put the old carb back on and seee if that works because it could just be some thin wrong with the new carb. it happened to my friend so that might be the problem

im having the same problem with my new performance carb. it says it has a built in gas pump, but isnt getting gas to it.

im trying to suck the gas thru the line but it killing my lungs, i think im gunna die, but i got mine started for like 10 seconds twice.

ohh ok, i put some gas in the carb thinking maybe the bike had to run for a while to get the soo called built in fuel pump pumping, it ran for like 10 seconds, so then i tried sucking the gas thru the line and setting it flowing, but it didnt work and i thought i was gunna die from all the fumes being sucked into my mouth. lol sucks it soo cold, it was like 50 all day. :D

it would work, does your compressor have a reverse tho? just dont let any gas get in to it, i got a new plan tho also, today, i used the old carb with the primer bulb to get the gas flowing, and then hooked up the new carb fast enough and the gas was getting to it, but wasnt igniting good enough im beginning to think the carb is a piece of crap :(

deffinately :cool: but im going to put the stock back on just to ride since the weather is soo nice, i at least can put the perf. air filter on and try it out w/ the stock carb.its soo nice and i really want to ride this week, who cares if the neighbors call the police on me again :nono
but im sposed to get my braces off tomorrow :o , so i get to go home early.
