Ok, since I last posted here I purchased a used bladez, unfortunately the compression was about to fail and the carb was in bad need of replacement. It ran great for a few months but now it is dying. I am rebuilding the motor(rings and jug, ported) and replaced the carb. My son has taken a liking to this scooter so I am building another for my self. I just bought a paverunner, I got a smoking deal on it $300 new/delivered! Of course the 35cc motor is inadequate for me a 210 pound rider. I got a tanaka 47cc motor thinking that I would just want to put hp parts on it anyway, but everywhere I look the only parts for this motor are a pipe and v-stack/filter set up. No one specifically references upgrades for this motor. Anyone have experience with putting a reed box on this motor, and what carb makes a good upgrade for this motor? Then theres the clutch, I would like to have a racing clutch for it, will the ones for pocket bikes work, like the ones with 3 shoes?
any advice would be appreciated!

http://www.adaracing.com/viewitem.php?id=wa-15-2&maincat=scooter , I think that carb may work, its ADA, but otherwise the 47CC from tanaka comes with a adjustable / HP carb doesnt it?

Sort of, it came with an adjustable hp carb, but even though the ports are 15mm the venturi at the throtle body is only 13.5mm. I have seen some full 15mm walbro carbs for 47cc, but they all say for reed valve motors. I have seen a reed kit on a go-cart on here, but I am unsure if it was a tanaka motor. If that would work on this motor that solves putting a boost bottle on it.

If you buy the right intake manifold, you could probally put any carb on there.

Yea, I am betting on the same, problem is I am having a hard time finding manifolds for this motor, everything I look at says it will work on tanaka up to 40cc. That is basically why I posted here to see if anyone knows of the parts channel I should be looking in.

Well I was never able to get any info on this topic any where I looked. SDmini motor sports has alot of goodies though, also jacmack. So the paverunner is cool it's a bladez moby comp with tanaka powered by bladez stickers on it. lol
I have started puting it together today, I took my manifold and wooden deck to a freinds machine shop for replication, he is going to tap the manifold for me (he said he would think about building a new billet one) oh well I don't want to be an expensive friend, and hes going to make me a billet deck for it also (way good enough right) for free! The mods I was able to pull together with certainty of function are tanakas tuned pipe for the 47cc, vstack and sheilded filter, boost bottle, rocket racing clutch and a direct hits ignition amp. I am contemplating a rocket key and a smaller output gear.

Sounds sick, sorry I couldn't help you find a carb... maybe check and look for carbs meant for 47cc pocket bikes? Could find some there. However, sounds like a sick ride, also, whered u get ur pipe? Thanks.

I got the pipe from http://www.powerequipmentandparts.com/ they are a full service tanaka dealer, and were formerly known as jacmac scooters (Jacqui, yes she is a woman, is excellent to work with) they have anything tanaka with good prices also. This is the pipe from the "Upgrade Parts" section of the bladez and tanaka scooter manual, has a silencer and is like the 3 piece units that go over the tire, looks a bit different than the one on my sons 40cc though. As far as the carb goes, I have looked into it and basically I know I have to mod a reed cage and mount that up before I can put a larger carb on here (pocket bike style), I read one guys post somewhere on the web that had an 18mm carb, wish I could find that post again   I think it was on a go-cart though! My ultimate goal is to be able to pull wheelies on the thing. The 40 could almost do it with my big butt (215lbs) and it's not quite as dressed as this one will be!

Neezer.... some suggestions...
The Direct Hits SUCKS on the 47's. For some reason the coil saturates, and becomes hard to start. The DH works great on Bluebirds, Actives, Tanaka 35's & 40's but not the 47 or 47r. Kinda wierd, but I wanted you to know the facts.
Timing Key
Boost Bottle
Port Work
Tuned Pipe
Rocket Clutch
Gearing
Those are about the best things to do with the 47.
Reed Cages are not a bolt on item. It requires piston porting and other internal modifications to work properly (think of it this way, if it was a bolt on, it would be FAR MORE COMMON as everyone would have one).
www.sdminimotorsports.com has all those parts!

I got to tell you, I've yet to find a motor that the Direct Hits works on. I tried it on a Tanaka 40 and 35 and it sucked on both. Spend your money on something far more rewarding. Just a little tip. :nono

Nice... I'm like an annorexic b*tch, I weigh a little over 100. With my 40cc, I can pull 100 ft wheelies, and about 40 ft wheelies on my XTR. heh, but yeah I bet once you get this thing all the way modded you'll be able to...
Advice:
Get it up to about 15 mph, and then let it down to a little above the idle, so its going as slow as possible with the clutch fully engaged.
Lean forward, and pull back and lean back hard, and nail the throttle.
Hehe I own wheelies. Especially on my neighbors 23cc, but that thing weighs like 20lbs.
