We noticed that the S1 Pipes were still running at the front of the pack at the IGPA race in Mesa Arizona this weekend. Thanks to all the racers that showed up. We enjoyed talking with some of you. Keep it up!

A number of series1 owners on gpn have reported that their pipes are cracking, any thoughts on that?

And I did not say "crack pipes". Pipes do crack from time to time. Our pipes are warranteed for 180 days. A small percentage of the pipes we sell crack. We have sold several thousand S-1 Pipes and have had a problem with less than 1% of the pipes sold. When this occurs in the warranty period, we stand behind it. Many pipes that crack return to us with major pavement scrapes. In other words, the ped has been over backwards and slid down the pavement after landing on the pipe. Improper installation and maintenance can also be a problem. The pipe should be installed using silicone on the slip joint to eliminate vibration and seal against leaks. Most people neglect to do that. The fastening Nuts and bolts must be periodically checked for tightness. More than once, I have seen scooters draging the pipe by 1 spring, telling me that the pipe has been loose and ratteling around for a long time un noticed. Proper installation and maintenance is the key.

:confused: Where does it say to put silicone on the slip joint (is that the collar?) in the installation instructions? I wasn't aware of this.:confused:

All pipes, regardless of which one have the possibility of cracking when installation is incorrect or the pipe is allowed to run with loose fastners, or the engine vibration is excessive from a crankshaft being knocked out of true from jumping or hammering a drive off. I have seen pipes that do worse than crack. They have a tendency to break the cylinder off the engine. If the pipe is to large and too heavy and not supported well, it can do that.
