    My Old China....

Last year I purchased a couple of cheap Chinese manifolds..
Non of the dimensions match Zenoah barrels..
They do fit the Walbro WYK family barrel carbs..
The round entry hole is 17mm across.

I made the adaptor plate suit these cheap and plentiful manifolds..

BUT.... I made a few structural changes..
The manifolds total height was reduced by 1/2" ..
The face that mounts to the barrel, was built up with metal putty.
This was to give a bigger surface area for the gasket, and cover up the countersunk screws.

    Ramming..

Fancied a ram pipe on this engine..
Managed to make one 1 1/2" long.

The backside fits perfectly in to the mouth of the carb.
A little cut out to stop the cable ferrule catching... if I want to flip the cylinder.

Using the massive computing power of a quad core processor....
I guessed the radius of the mouth of the ram pipe..

    The finishing Touch..

Taking inspiration from SJ's Ram pipe extravaganza....

I used a Ram pipe from a 45 DCOE Weber carb.
Cutting off the split end and skimming off the flange..

The alloy adaptor was machined a couple of thou over size..
The adaptor, Weber ram pipe and a smear of bearing set.... Were all pressed together..

    love it!

i have a g2k in my stash, been looking for the cylinder and the cylinder shroud for ages, i don't suppose those can still be located?

when i get to a computer next i will try to put the picture up, photobucket isn't letting me throw pics up anymore as they want to charge me to do 3rd party hosting.

    Manifold.......

The original carb was a TK gravity fed slide carb, similar to the type fitted to mopeds etc..

Earlier in the year I made a new inlet manifold to accept a Walbro type barrel carb..
This early prototype used an adapted Chinese plastic manifold.. These are easily available for a few $...
    Although happy with it.........
    It pleased me not..

I spent the last 8 months thinking about the best way to make a new inlet manifold......
I realised.... The best way was to start with a round piece of Aluminium bar, not a square piece...
It is much easier to do the machining jobs in the lathe and on the rotary table of the milling machine....

Here is what I have achieved so far.....
I have a few of these engines now, so I will be making 3 manifolds.
Pictured are the first two... Not finished yet, as they require at least 2 hours more work..

    Well.... That didn't work.......
Looks like the picture download thing is not working again.

A little bit more work done......

Done most of the hole drilling and making the 15mm round in hole flow through to the 1 inch rectangle hole.

Made 3 manifolds and 3 set of gaskets out of 1mm thick heat, fuel and steam resistant gasket sheet.
The gaskets will also act as heat barriers..

One of the manifolds has been machined so it misses the fins and engine cover.

The pulse holes are yet to be drilled.
