Do all cvt models have to have that black plastic side that says CVT on it to be cvt? I found out that mine doesn't have that but its silver and says oil and then something else. I guess it's not CVT I'm mad now.
nope you dont have CVT only the x2's have cvt, but i think you can put it on if you want. im not sure tho., im thinking about buying a cvt trans and putting it on my x1. my friend has an x2 and they look exactly the same minus the cvt. so you might be able to just put one on.

Incorrect. I have X-1's that have the CVT. Yes it will bolt on.
Bottom line is: If the tranny cover isnt bulged out, then its not CVT. Whether it says X1 or X2.
Even if the cover itself dont say CVT, if it has a bulge, and is plastic, then it has CVT. Most non-CVTs Ive seen have just a metal plate, as opposed to a plastic cover.
the difference between the x1 and x2 is the x2 has cvt and the engine is mounted about an inch more forward for the cvt to fit, cvt is really big, twice as big as the x1 tranny. i have an x2 my friend has a x1, he would have to mount the engine forward or cut out some frame for the cvt to fit. so unless u know how to weld ur prolly out of luck doin a conversion, but it is possible.
