49cc help!!!

my brand new ninja 49cc won't start! i've adjusted the carb, verified the spark plug gap, and checked the air filter. when it arrived it was missing the fuse and the key. is the fuse necessary to pull start it???!?!!

I know nothing about these bikes as I have never seen one myself, but the ignition system COULD run off your battery. You could try pulling your plug out of the engine, then reconnect the plug wire and then touch the side of the plug to your engines case, then slowly pull on the pullstart and see if you have a spark.

i have a 49cc and to use the electric start you have a fuse with the pull start you have to use a key for both ways

so the electric start requires both the fuse and key and the pull start only requires the key. is this what you mean?

the person i purchased it from said the key was only needed for the electric start and that the pull start would work regardless.

cashman you are 100% correct! i am so frustrated w/ the person i purchased my bike from because he kept telling me that the pull start will work w/o both the items. if it wasn't for groups like this i'd have a very expensive door stop! thanks again for all the help.

what i finally ended up doing:
* installed a different fuse holder so it would hold normal sized fuses
* broke the key lock it will now turn w/ a screwdriver
* ordered a new lock w/ a key

finally all smiles now that the bike is running
