cateye won't hold idle

i have a cat eye and it starts up but when i let go the gas it dies my friend said it was because the carb is 12mm i have to buy the 15 mm idk i am new at this can anyone help me. also if it is the carb could you point me to a good carb to buy and why its good and where to buy front brake pads

Hey lil_chris, it's hard to diagnose this sort of thing without being in front of the bike. However, before i try we have to ask you 1. question Have you tried turning the idle screw in at all?

nope i did not try turning the screw and if i shoud try that where would that be located i am new at this

It's the upper most adjustment screw on the carby that's inline with your throttle cable, found on the pullstarter side of the carby, should be a philips head. Don't touch the flathead one with a spring on it, that's the mixture screw.

Warm up the bike first then turn the screw in (clockwise) a little at a time. Give the throttle a few revs and let it drop back to idle to see if it's set right.

You know where the carby is right?

thank man you help so munch but now the bike idels but it fells like it going by it self unless i hold the brake is this normal just wanted to know.

nah lil dude your idle is too fast now, turn it back till it stays still, the bike should only take off when you want it to.
