  • Loose clutch bell dragging on clutch

Hi. On a GZ25N23, GSR25, how tight is the clutch bell supposed to be in its bearing in the aluminum mount? How much play is acceptable?

    Isn't it clipped in?

Yes there is a C clip, snap ring I think it’s called, but the top sprocket has play in and out anyway, and will cause the back sprocket to be miss aligned and the chain to bind.

The C clip may not be fully in the designated groove or the bearing is just worn out? The used GTR I recently bought wobbled... bearing was bad in the motor mount. I would suggest removing the assembly to inspect.

Well as an update to my post I just put a new bell & bearing in my GTR 78mm bell housing motor mount and it just dropped in so it may just be the mount! Looking at options? Is a slight wobble ok as 10inch mentioned or am I going to end up damaging/replacing more parts again. Any thoughts... considering an ADA billet one, this rebuild could be adding up unfortunately.

I guess my main concern would be having the chain somehow come off and eating some pavement at 30 mph, not a lot of experience on Goped motor tolerances as in what can cause a problem so just asking. Might just use your suggestion tho. Plenty of snow and ice on the ground so I got some time to mess around. Appreciate your help and suggestions...

I have one already and will be installing it. My other issue that I have is that apparently I have an old 460 starter so I ordered the plastic engagement disc from DDM since the 2 plastic pieces that go into the pawl are broke. I never realized they used 2 different starters until after my parts arrived. Now I will need the newer pull start as well. It did start and run after I bought it at least but the eBay seller never disclosed any of these issues. Doubt I will ever buy a used ped again or anything from the New York area! At least after my build is done I’ll basically have a solid GP460 Interceptor.
I will post up some pics at some point if possible.

Does forum (require) off site photo hosting?

It’s a GTR. Not sure what year they came out but always liked the suspension idea and just the overall look. I came across a GSR25 locally back in 2014. Just a 2 wheeler that’s fun to mess a round on. I enjoy all things 2 wheels, have several motorcycles as well.
I am enjoying the build part it’s completely torn apart. Just put the wheels together this past weekend, ADA billet blue ones with new 671 tires. Didn’t want to paint the frame so I used a can of peel able paint (blasted metal) turned out good. Been getting the motor sorted just learning things along the way. Turning it into an Interceptor.
