  • I've got a Problem....

Ok, I finally put my LH back together on my sport. It got put back together correctly, or so I hope. When it was all together, I went for a test ride. I worked great for about 5 mins, then it started to run like funky. Almost like there wasn't any fuel, even though there was a full tank. It runs great until about quarter to half throttle, then it seems like it 'bogs'. It has the H.P carb.

It's weird, I can't figure it out. I've looked for pinched lines, or if they're hooked up; they are. I'm about to drain the gas and look for a dirty or clogged fuel filter. Since I just spend up my last pennies on my X-Ped's engine, I am broke. Can you just clean the fuel filter?

Any help would be appreciated because I am going on a huge ride tomorrow and I don't any problems to slow me down.

I might just have to use my mechanical skills and figure it out.

    Thanks,
    Erik

Is the gasket in good shape and that pesky little pulse hole aligned right? My Mitsu started acting up like that today. When I finally limped home I found the bolts holding the V-stack and carb on were loose. I took them out to check the gasket and it was ripped to shreads. If that pulse hole isn't lined up just right or the gasket isn't sealed, it is like loosing your fuel pump. SheNoRunGood.

I just had the same problem:

This is what I would check:

      1. A new fuel Filter
      2. Open up the bottom of your hp carb and cleen out the little screen in there. I suggest using a Can of WD-40 and spraying it through all of the channels of the carb. Gas flows through here and if its plugged like mine was, thats your prob. Continue with an aircompressor and blow out the channels, not to high of a psi is needed. Be sure to keep the little screen in there, or your engine will be sucking in dirt and grime. My screen was completly covered in what looked like a hair ball, so check that out. My ped would do the same thing as yours, ride for a bit then die.

I hope this helps, and let us know how it works. That could very well be the cause, it sounds like your engine isn't getting enough gas. Also like he ^^ said check the hole alaingment.

Also check that your cilinder bolts are tight, if there not you loose compression, no compression, no go for you.

Sorry Im forgetting things as I go

          More things to check:

          1. Tight carb bolts, to keep a nice seal
          2. Manifold bolts have to be tight, use loctite and plenty of lock washers.
          3. Check to see if any gaskets are ripped, I suggest replacing them every year or so just to be sure

Sorry for the multiple posts, Let us know

Thanks for all the help. I got the ped working now and figured it out, the carb was fully out of adjustment. Just a few mins of adjusting, and I was on my way to a most excellent ride with my buddies!

            Thanks again!
