  • Go-pedding is Dead

Wow officially, I feel like Im The onley one ripping these days. And I'm not talking about uber scoot or evo. Goped. It's dead now sucks that the days growing up in the bay area and waiting to hear another goped drive by to hopefully run out and race. All gone now. Jn innovations, trevor simpson. Dead breed. All these old websites out of date selling couple old stock parts and newbies with there fake scooters on hear when ada sells parts for Goped. Even homeboy from top secret motors not answering. Goped nation no mass. Anybody hear? Any thoughts

Go Pedding will never be what it was in its heyday. We do still have DDM, and ADA though. But yeah, no more companies are trying to make new innovative products. To be honest, it just isn't worth the money. It seems like Go Pedding has shrunk do to a group of DIY fabricators now.

Have you checked out the facebook goped groups? Although they are quite awful in general (because of how facebook works), at least there's a bunch of people on there. I miss forums because the format is way better. Facebook is stupid.

Here’s my take on Gopeding. Well 1st off its motorcycles in general that the 2 wheel sector of the buying public has changed dramatically. Unfortunately I feel it is based on you young people whom would rather spend your time being programmed, by that I mean phones, gaming, your I needs to follow everything on Fbook to see what the trends are. Many of my friends kids can’t change a light bulb let alone know how to perform any mechanical maintenance on generally (anything).
I will go ahead and tell you I just turned 55 and have been riding motorized bikes for 47 of those years with 100s of thousands of miles ridden. My wife and I currently have 6 motorcycles, my 2 peds, 6 bicycles, my 40 mph electric bike. My most recent one is an H2SXSE (bought last Oct.) 200hp & Supercharged! I also raced and still own many RC vehicles. Granted since I’m older and don’t have kids (or wanted) any I can enjoy my hobbies.
These forums are a great source for networking on the things we love to do. I have read and learned a lot from this one and appreciate all who wrote threads and you few guys that have been helping me with my projects. Hopefully more will find their way back, but the the times are a changing and NOT for the better.
I do my best to keep promoting 2 wheels to younger people, last year alone I donated bicycles and a lot of time fixing them up for around half a dozen kids in my neighborhood. Maybe I encouraged a few!

I've been into Goped since I first saw one back in '95 and I was instantly hooked. Nowadays, I still tinker some with them but I mostly ride on occasion.

They are useful tools too! For example, I used to work at convention centers where you had to pay for parking (even if you were working there), and I used to park at a lot that was free but it was 2 miles away. I used my bone stock Sport to go back and forth which cost me pennies on the dollar, while other people I worked with were forced to pay $15 per day in parking fees and that adds up over time! My Goped paid for itself and then some since I bought it cheap.

Times just change and people now are just whiny and get offended about everything.

It’s mostly hobbyists now with slow but constant influx of young guys who have yet to get into cars. Gopeds are fun (to me) due to their nostalgia. I remember ripping stock sports around the neighborhoods as kids.

You see the young guys with that need for speed come and go. Especially the large groups. Gopeds don’t go fast, scooters aren’t cool, and getting stuck somewhere b/c you broke down isn’t fun.

That being said I never see myself not owning a Goped. To me they are the functional form of legos, they don’t take up a lot of space, don’t cost a lot of money, and that smile on your face after ripping around the neighborhood is irreplaceable.
