  • Gsr 40

I have the chance to buy a new gsr 40 with the zenoah g43 engine. It has never been run or even had gas in it. I am not sure what year it is, but it has the new style maddog calipers on both the front and back. It has just been sitting in this guys basement. What do you think the value of this might be? Any ideas or suggestions would be a great help. I really wanted a gsr46, but if i can get this at the right price it may be worth keeping to stick a 460 on it.

    Ideas? Thoughts? Opinions?

A brand new GSR40 with the Maddog brakes is about as good as it gets, no wonder Len is salivating I would think that $500 would be a great price to get it for, and fair for the seller.

        agreeded
you better jump on that and quick.even if you are going for speed,a second ped as your talking about would be a well rounded two ped collection.

Thanks guys, about $500 we are talking about, and its totally standard and spotless as you would expect from a new ped. Are there many aftermarket add ons available for the g43?

$500 for a spotless GSR40 is a nice find . If it's Black , you may even have the TSI Version . There are many upgrades for the GSR40 including but not limited to :
Pipes, Porting, Headkits , Carbs ..... As Len said , a 2 Ped collection is a better plan that swaping out the reliable G43L .

G43 FTW!!! They are wonderful motors. Just add a pipe and a reed and you won't even need a 460. Plus you can pin the 40 a whole ride and not even worry about burning up the motor. I have done 12 miles without ever backing off the throttle. I was holding 14k the whole time. It didn't even miss a beat.

                @Dog......I'd trade my GSR40 for GSR46...just sayin.

The g43 has to be forced to be an *** kicker instead of a leafblower....the 460 was made to be an *** kicker(and it is)

GP460 FTMFW!!! IMO it's like comparing a 307 to a 396. One is a truck motor and the other is...well, you know

i would think of it like a chevy 350 truck compared to a 440 super commando.

the 350(g43l) is not as badass but mods and repairs are typically cheaper and the engine lasts longer. a 350(40) can be built to run like a mofo without raising maintenance and repair costs through the roof.

the 440(gp460) is more expensive to maintain, mods are more expensive, and you will be spending a **** ton in repairs and maintenance(more of a mopar thing than a reliability issue)

just my 2 cents. but i have a half dozen 460 cylinders that are missing fat chunks of plating. and if you ask anyone that rides with me they will tell you i run ALL my engines rich. (yet they all overheat)

I enjoy smoking 460's with my lowly ole G43. Heck I was outrunning stock ones and ones with just a pipe before I reeded my motor. Now its just 460 abuse in progress.

                      had to fix that.

I'm still on the same 460 with all The same parts after 2 1/2 years of hard abuse. I guess when/if I smoke one I'll ride the wife's 40 for 3 days til a new top end shows up. 40 guys...argh

I can build 460's for massive power but they just seem to cheap to me. I have had more than one of them and never even mounted them up. I mocked one up once then sold it before I even started it lol. I just get a kick out of squeezing lots of power out of the motors that everyone just writes off. Just ask Dawman about how much power I squeezed out of his 40cc Tanaka. 460's are easy mode.

I plan to treat the 460 just like any of my g43s and see if it holds up. This will a good test to the motors for my purposes. I've already done the pull start conversion, switched out to the billet intake and the super clutch so I don't have to go through the standard pains.
