why cant a +2mm stroker be used w/ a bigbore

  • #2
Because there is not enough clearance between the piston and the head without using additional base gaskets. And if you use additional base gaskets to get the proper 'squish' clearance, the engine will not run good. Adding base gaskets, as well as increasing the stroke, increases the port opening duration. Too high of port timing can cause the engine to 'lag' and lose power.

With a head kit, you can use just 1 base gasket, but use addtional head gaskets to get the proper piston to head clearance. But, since Zenoah did not make their cylinder to allow for a proper head kit to be made, running a head kit on a Zenoah big bore is not recommended.

When the Superior big bore cylinder is released, then ADA will have a big bore head kit that will really work.

No, I'm saying that you'd get more power if you didn't use additional base gaskets to get the proper squish clearance. Higher port timing isn't always better/faster.
