Here's the deal, you are going to have to send us back your ADA BladeZ? pipe first, then we will send you a new one. You would need to call us on the phone to get the exchange pre-authorized, and then we will give you the price. You do not need to go back thru the dealer that you purchased it from, this will be done direct with ADA. But, remember, you must get this pre-authorized, do not send us a pipe without calling first.

I've put my thoughts about the "old" pipe in a previous string. "Question for ADA" . But look at my 93 day old Tanaka 47cc motor.Moby Comp w/Active 55cc // Black Billet Deck // HP Carb // Tall Velocity Stack w/Choke // Uni Filter w/ Intake Turbo // ADA HP Pipe // 18 Tooth Gearing // Sigma Wireless Computer (40+ MPH // Redline Bars // Candy Apple Red Metallic Paint ////// Moby XL w/ Tanaka 47cc//////Moby XL w/Tanaka 40 cc

It looks like the 47cc's have a very thin casting around the exhaust area, just like the Zenoah G2D's. The G2D's used to break a lot too, especially if the back of the pipe hit the ground. Atleast the pipe can't hit the ground very easily on the BladeZ. But, with the weight of the pipe and the vibration of the engine, it's going to put a lot of stress on that cylinder.

Hey Brian,
Hope all is well, havent talked to you in awhile.
Not only the damage to the head, yours is the first picture I've seen of another "repaired" pipe. Mine broke in almost the identical place as yours did also. Sending my pipe back to them today.....just across town, shouldnt take long to get it back (I hope).
Take Care,
HapPnis

Thoughts on pipes
The fact that a pipe breaks or a cylinder breaks is not neccessarily the blame of any one thing or any one design. We have an engine mounted on a flexible frame that could be inconsistent. The engine is solid mounted . All engines do not have the same vibration factor. It varies due to the trueness of the crankshaft etc. I think that the most damage can be done during the periods when bolts and nuts in the enginer system have vibrated loose. This will change how the pipe vibrates at certain RPM's. We discussed in the beginning with our pipe designer whether to mount direct or use the mounting system we use on the smaller engines. He has over 30 years of experience in exhaust design and told me that it is unknown what will happen, as there are so many variables as mentioned above. In all of my years (over 35 yrs) in the Power Sports Industry, being involved with Snowmobiles, Jet Skis, Motorcycles, Go Carts or anything with an expansion chamber, cracking can be encountered. I am only trying to demonstrate that is is the nature of the beast. When it happens, we just have to deal with it, one case at a time. We sell thousands of pipes, and the percentage of problems that we have is not signifacant. You can be assured that problems always surface on these groups. That is the nature of that beast as well.

I can personally attest to that.
I had my Pipe mounted on 4 different engines. Same pipe!
My trusty Mitsu 52, then my Tanaka TC 47, then my Active, then Kyles ported 43 when his 3 stage pipe broke for the 4th time.
I broke several of the 'Z' brackets, but never the pipe.
I broke my bracket on several long rides and finished them out with the only thing holding the pipe on being the header mount. I guess I was lucky but it never broke. Its still in good shape on its way back to ADA. I also was the vicim of an axle bolt break, before they went with the grade 8 bolts. That wasent fun.
But with all of the problems, I have to admit that ADA was right there with customer service for me and my customers.. I cant remember how many pipes they replaced at no cost, and how many brackets they sent me to have some spares. It was tops.
Now with the new pipe mount a great pipe just got better.
Now, lets see if we can break THIS oneSee you at the races!
