Both engines are basically the same except that the he23 is basically a "knock off" of the rc engine..

Depending on if you want a knock off or the real deal.... thats your choice.. but one definate good thing that is all rc and he23 engine parts are interchangable..

Hope this helps... feel free to ask more questions if you need.

      Superior is best choice

Actually it is a no brainer. the Superior 23HP is the best choice because it is equal to or better than the RC and it costs less money.........unless you want to spend more and get nothing better!

ok... i understand that the HE23HP is better, but WHY is it better? better cooling? piston shape? i wanna know what is BETTER about it.

In my opinion its not better.. there the same basic engines.. the he23 just has a cheaper price..

            Look at the facts.

Actually, the Superior engines have better cylinder plating by far. The chrome plating has a nice cross-hatch hone, which is better for ring life. The Zenoah's have very thin plating that actually allows you too see, and in most cases feel, the horizontal bore lines. Rings cannot last very long running across ridges.

The Superior also has pistons with the correct cam and taper shape. Zenoah makes there pistons round and straight. A round and straight piston may work find in a weed wacker engine, but if your concerned with the best performance, the piston needs the correct shape. The cam and taper shape are also less prone to seizure, as when they reach operating temperature they expand properly. A round straight piston can expand and become too tight, causing it to seize in the cylinder, especially if not warmed up before being put under a load.

Lastly, the price. Even if the engines where identical in every way, which they are not, the price is better on the Superior engines.

For someone that can look at the two in an unbiased way, the choice would be obvious. Unfortunately, there are many people that cannot think for themselves and just buy something for it's name.

Oh I totally agree with you and I have heard about the shapping.. and cylender walls etc.. on the he23's but unfortunatly I have never had a chance to actually use a he against my rc... so I guess I am biased in a way.. but in another way I am pointing towards the he because the great price.
