My name Is Loren i am 15 and im planing to ride my goped from Portland OR to Miami FL in the summer of 2005. My dad will be following me all the way in his doge maxivan. I just wanted to know if anyone knew the record for the farthest ride on a goped is because i want to break it. I am also looking for sponsors, any help would be greatly apreciated.

There are a few debates over distance records. Someone a long time ago travelled across the USA on a GP brand scooter, but he caught rides with anyone that would give him one so as far as I am concerned, that was no record. Riding the scooter from point A to point B is the only way to truly hold any record.

I myself have been on 2 long distance rides. We rode from San Luis Obispo in CA to San Diego CA in 5 days, and another ride from Santa Barbera to San Diego in 3 days. Each ride had us covering more than 100 miles a day.
We didnt have a support van chasing us, we went at it alone. Men, Scooters & Backpacks (and trailers being towed by scooters). No support van!

I'd suggest writing the manufacturers of the equipment you'll be using for support. You are going to need A LOT OF PARTS to make that trip, and please plan your route accordingly. You cant just hop on the freeway and ride along. You must be on a route suitable for you and your scooter. That is a looooooong journey, so I will highly suggest a seat.

I tried to do this before but I was cut short by Guiness Book of World Records when they told me that it could not count as a record for some unknown reason. But go ahead and try. i live in coral springs fl and i rode down ft laderdale hollywood and miami beach and they were fun every time my ped never gets wot for that long
